“Do I need to soak these plates?”
NO. This is a Dry Clutch kit. Unlike wet clutches, these plates must remain completely free of oil and grease. Ensure your hands and tools are clean during installation. If engine oil has leaked into your clutch housing from the main seal, that seal must be replaced before installing this kit.
“Will this make my clutch quieter?”
Yes, significantly. A major source of “clutch clatter” is the weight of steel plates hammering against the basket. The lightweight aluminum cores in this kit have less mass, which reduces the metallic “clack” when the clutch is disengaged.
“How do I know if I need a new basket too?”
When you remove your old plates, inspect the “fingers” of the clutch basket. If you see deep grooves (notching) where the plate tabs sit, new plates will not solve a “grabby” clutch. If the notches are deeper than 0.5mm, we highly recommend pairing this kit with a DBK Billet Aluminum 12T clutch basket. It also recommended to replace the clutch springs.
